Constructing A Wall Of Light
Using crystal candleholders with the same pattern, but with varying heights, you can build a large, tiered wall that will shimmer with candlelight when lit. You will need sturdy cardboard boxes, duct tape and a tablecloth to construct the structural support for your wall of light. First, sort the boxes to make sure that you have three (or more) different sets of the same types of boxes to maintain an even surface for each tier. Set the boxes end to end, using duct tape to firmly connect each of the boxes until you have a long rectangle that fits the space where you want your display to be. Repeat this step until you have the amount of tiers you want to use for your display. Once you have all the tiers set up, use the duct tape to connect the entire set of “steps”. Now, set all of the crystal candleholders you have ordered from a wholesale glass retailer on your tiered display to test how sturdy your structure is. If you see any bowing, reinforce the area with more duct tape. After you have ensured that the structure will hold the weight of your candleholders, set the display stand where it will go and cover it with the tablecloth, arranging the folds to fit the steps. Set up the candles in the holders, placing them in random order of different heights along the display stand.

To light up your display, use long lighters that are designed for lighting gas grills or fireplaces. Starting with the top tier, light each wick from tallest to shortest and work your way down to the bottom tier. It is helpful to have other people to help you light the display. It is also advisable to use slow burning candles, make sure that the crystal candleholders aren’t placed too closely together, and always have a fire extinguisher or large pitcher of water close by for emergencies.
